Thought you knew everything there was to know about Norway? Think again! Innovation Norway, which will be exhibiting at The Meetings Show 2025, highlights five interesting facts about Norway’s MICE scene ahead of this year’s show.

It’s sustainable, safe and hospitable. Norway is a global leader in sustainability, and many of its MICE offerings prioritise eco-friendly practices. Organising events here can align with companies' green values and objectives. It is also known for high safety standards and friendly locals, making it a welcoming and secure experience for participants.

New facilities are on their way. Norway already features world-class venues to cater for a range of event needs, from cutting-edge conference centres in cities like Oslo and Bergen, to unique venues such as converted lighthouses or traditional wooden lodges. But it isn’t stopping there. Oslo Spektrum is a brand-new congress centre, slated to open in November 2028. The venue, just 20 minutes by train from Oslo airport, will boast a capacity of over 11,000 (seated) across two halls, while there will also be 20 break-out rooms and networking and restaurants and networking areas. You won’t have to wait quite as long for a new signature hotel in Tromsø. The 305-bedroom hotel The Dock 69°39, opens in June, offering event facilities for up to 300 people.

It's bigger than you think! While its population is just over 5.2 million people, the land in Norway is respectively much larger. If you were to tip the nation onto its side, it would stretch all the way to Rome in Italy, meaning there’s plenty to explore on a visit. In fact, Norway’s landscape means it can offer outdoor adventures all year round – from hiking and glacier trekking to fjord cruises and dog sledding, making it perfect for incentive travel and team-building activities.

Easily accessible for international delegates. There are 144 international flights flying into Norway’s capital, Oslo on a daily basis, while many second cities such as Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim and Tromsø also benefit from international flight connections, or domestic transfer flights from Oslo. All airports are modern and less than 30 minutes away from the cities with excellent public transport to help you continue journeys once there.

It's competitively priced. Norway is often perceived as an expensive destination, but is competitive when it comes to conferences. A full board package typically starts at £190, including VAT, whilst a day package starts from £65, including VAT. Moreover, due to exchange rates Norway is now 15% cheaper than it was three years ago.
