Tomorrow’s Talent 2024: Shanice Sobers
Shanice Sobers acquired a taste for events by working as an artist liaison at music festivals while she was at university. She worked in remote sales for two years during the pandemic, then felt the pull back to events as restrictions eased. She joined Quadrant Events as an event coordinator in September 2022 where she specialises in building event registration websites and apps while learning about full event management and logistics.
What does and what will being a Tomorrow’s Talent winner mean to you?
Being a winner of Tomorrow's Talent means a great deal in my personal and professional development. This award has inspired me to continue to grow and enhance my skills, whilst learning even more about the industry. I want to keep developing and I am excited about my future.
What inspires you about the meetings industry?
I am inspired by the impact events have on attendees and the impressive scale of these meetings. My team in particular motivate me, they taught me how important messages are within events and how to effectively deliver them to the delegates, no matter what scale. This makes me eager to grow and learn how to tackle the large scale events.
What are some of the barriers to entering the events industry you have come up against?
Getting the right industry experience was a challenge. But at my current company they saw my gap in my corporate industry experience as a positive, rather than a negative. They have taken me under their wing and trained me from the ground up. Quadrant Events are really good at growing talent. The company has a future talent programme and internal mentorship programme dedicated to it.
