Tomorrow’s Talent 2024: Charlotte Tattersall
Charlotte Tattersall is currently event lead at People’s Partnership. Charlotte bolstered her degree in event management by working on live events and small music festivals while at university. After a year working in event sales in London, following graduation, she landed a position in events and hospitality at Hickstead, the home of British showjumping. There, she gained experience working on a wide variety of events, including international showjumping, corporate meetings and weddings.
Post-pandemic, Charlotte moved to an animal welfare charity, building and driving its event strategy as event fundraiser, before taking up her current role at People’s Partnership, where she actively uses events to grow the pension company’s commercial business.
What is your proudest career moment so far?
I hosted an outdoor corporate festival for a large 900 staff pharmaceutical company with food trucks, a Ferris wheel and even an ABBA tribute band. It was a constantly changing event with a lot of moving parts and a tight budget, so I was extremely proud that we pulled it off and the client was so happy.
What would be your dream event to work on?
I would love to work at Glastonbury – it is one of the most iconic events in the world and I can only imagine how crazy and rewarding it is. Or, I am a huge F1 fan so I would love to work at any of the races around the world!
What item wouldn’t you be without at work and why?
It sounds so simple but my phone. When you are working in events you need to constantly be contactable. It is always in my hand even when I am running around like a mad woman dealing with any last-minute crazy requests.
What advice would you give to anyone considering a career in the events industry?
Gain as much experience as you can early on. I am extremely grateful that I have been able to work on a variety of events with each event teaching me something different. It has given me a great foundation to work from. I would also say make sure you are open minded and willing to constantly learn. Each event brings you something new and no matter how much planning you put in place something will always change.
