Tomorrow’s Talent 2024: Becky Carter

Tomorrow’s Talent 2024: Becky Carter

Becky has events in her blood. She ran her first wedding aged 15 and worked in hospitality events for 11 years until the completion of her degree in Events Management. After gaining experience in as many different sectors as possible, Becky joined Bray Leino Events in 2021.

Within eight months of joining, Becky was promoted to senior event manager, before moving up to event director a year later. She now manages her own team and has a leading role on one of Bray Leino’s high-profile projects.

Becky has an impressive portfolio of largescale event projects to her name, like Expo 2020 Dubai, CYBERUK, and Global Investment Summit.

What does and what will being a Tomorrow’s Talent winner mean to you?

It is an appreciation to my achievements and ambition within the industry and I am honoured to be recognised amongst incredible talent within the sector.

What are your career ambitions?

Ultimately, my ambition has always been to run my own events business, a goal of mine before I went to university. Since the global pandemic, I have reassessed my business ambitions for the short term. For now, I am focussed on always aiming for the next big project, developing my team and growing my skillset.

Tell us about your proudest career moment so far and why?

I was thrown straight in the deep end during my first few weeks at Bray Leino Events. I joined the team delivering UK National Day as part of the Department for Business and Trade’s six-month tenure at World Expo in Dubai. UK National Day would see us deliver 48 separate events, across eight venues, in a single day. This was a huge learning experience for me, this experience really showed me my ability to work under pressure and exceed expectations. So much so, that they made me an honorary member of the band and awarded me a plaque to commemorate my work!

What advice would you give to anyone considering a career in the events industry?

The world of events is a huge industry with many different avenues you could go down. The best advice I would give to anyone joining the industry is to throw yourself into it and gain as much direct experience across different sectors as possible. This was the best thing I did for my career as it allowed me to diversify my skill set and I gained a broad list of friends and contacts around the industry.
