Exhibitor spotlight: Meet Leicester
A new service has been set up to help support and aid recovery of the meetings industry in Leicestershire following the Covid-19 pandemic. Meet Leicester is a new public-private sector partnership of 50 venues set up by experienced Business Tourism Manager Samantha Hall and Pasquale Buonanno. The pair, who will be speaking about the new service from stand TMSD221 at The Meetings Show, plan to promote the diverse venues of Leicester and the surrounding area to increase business tourism into the centrally located and easily accessible destination.
As Hall says, Leicester is ‘the perfect location’ for meetings and conferences. East Midlands Airport is just outside the city and Birmingham International is 30 miles away. Travel from London by train takes just over an hour and is accessible from the M1, M6 and M69 motorways.
The county of Leicestershire has an eclectic mix of venues – from the National Space Centre and the King Richard III Visitor Centre to sporting venues such as Leicester Racecourse and Leicestershire County Cricket Club. The county boasts a total of 7,000 bedrooms at city centre hotels like the Novotel and Adagio to rural retreats like Kilworth House.
“Leicestershire has a buzzing and vibrant city centre surrounded by tranquil countryside and lots of venues with outdoor space, ideal for team-building,” says Hall.
“We offer a free and impartial venue finding service to conference and meetings organisers and planners. “Our team has local expertise and can help to support you in arranging your conference/meeting in the area. We have local product knowledge so we can help to signpost too.”
