Looking back at 24 hours in Aberdeen

Here we take a quick look back at our 24 hours in Aberdeen fam trip which took place following The Meetings Show 2019.

The details: A diverse range of hosted buyers were whisked off to the granite city by Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau for a whirlwind trip, showing the best of the region’s MICE offerings.

What did they see?: The region has a wealth of food and drink specialists so the group visited craft beer brewery Brewdog HQ, based 15 miles outside the city, before going on a hard hat tour of new arena and entertainment venue P&J Live. The group also met with representatives from the onsite Hilton hotel, which is the newest of the hotel group’s brands opening in the UK and includes a spa and pool facilities.

To showcase the city’s event space variety, the group had multiple options: Visiting Art Deco venue Beach Ballroom; Aberdeen’s iconic Music Hall; Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen Hall and The Chester Hotel – an independent hotel situated in the affluent west end of Aberdeen.

The day ended at Native, a city centre restaurant serving up locally sourced produce.

Trip highlights: The group really enjoyed the behind the scenes tour of P&J Live, according to Laurie Scott, Head of the Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau. He said: “They couldn’t believe the scale of the venue and were excited by the potential that the site has for events both large and small.”

Benefits of hosting: Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau said it confirmed two pieces of business off the back of hosting this trip. “Fam trips are worth the investment of time and effort, and it’s pleasing to see the benefits come through,” said Laurie Scott, Head of the Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau.
